Hello this is mortalez from Urban Biker News, as I reported over a month ago here, honda was in the planing stages of an electric bike slated for the year 2010. Well in that article I asked the question “why is harley not leading the way in building green bikes?”. Well I Today was contacted by Harley Davidson’s engineering dept. I was informed that harley was indeed working on a green bike, a bike that leaves almost zero carbon footprint.
Harley Davidson’s Green project team leader manerd coltrain has this to say about the project” We refuse to be left behind in this new market, we cover all bases with this new line, recycling biofuel and smog reduction.”
The project tackled the bio fuel angle by using a biological organism, thats right while most vehicles have horses the new harley’s have hamsters, and thats the state of the art power source, a wheel turbine that powers the animal starting system, that right the new harley is powered by the A.S.S engine. independent researchers have found that this new eco-friendly harley engine has been proven to out perform traditional harley engines by up to 20%, but thats not all in field tests this new engine has reached speeds of 178Mph( on a down hill track) and the headlights are powered by recycles cellphone batteries(also charged by the A.S.S engine). The greater motorcycle community seems very excited ” For once the A.S.S will be INSIDE the harley”said herman goldstein, a long time myrtle beach resident.
The hamsters that Harley puts in their A.S.S are the products of 10 years of selective breeding and a diet of anabolic steroids, guinea pig growth hormones and moonshine.

When designing the prototype weight became an issue, “we were going to go with using plastic but we did not want to alienate our long time supporters then it dawned on us we get all the material we need from our suppliers” said willie scrounge, harley davidsons resource manager.

It seems that many of the parts for their other bikes get shipped in from places like mexico, canada, china, and japan siting on top of the perfect material for their news projects bike frames, thats right the pallets that their older bikes parts come in  were the light weight material they needed. so these new eco-friendly bikes will have frames made from recycled warehouse pallets. “It’s a win win, not only are the frames lite but they are also biodegradable” said willie cheatum, from the law firm of dewie, cheatum & howe who are helping harley davidson patten their A.S.S .

In a test run the prototype made the trip from there testing facility all the way to stillhangum alabama on zero gas and $34.00 in hampster chow.

So I guess I was wrong it seems harley will lead the way in eco-friendly bikes.

The latest well known female face to join the Harley-Davidson family is looking forward to doing her part on International Female Ride Day coming up in May.

Recording artist and NHRA spokes-singer Krista Marie has connected with Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Screamin’ Eagle racing in support of Harley-Davidson’s efforts to encourage women to ride.

On March 3rd, it was officially announced Krista Marie will make promotional appearances at Harley-Davidson dealerships, NHRA events and will participate in charity rides across the country on behalf of the storied brand and to support Harley-Davidson’s effort to encourage women to ride.

“We met Krista Marie through NHRA drag racing, and her passion for motorsports and Harley-Davidson motorcycles makes her a perfect fit as an honorary member of our Screamin’ Eagle race team,” said Harley-Davidson Manager of Racing Anne Paluso.

The new relationship began with a chance meeting when Paluso met Krista Marie while she was filming the video for her song “Drive It Like I Stole It” in front of Harley-Davidson’s NHRA display at the Memphis race track. When they heard of her enthusiasm for riding, which includes taking her motorcycles, ATVs and dirt bikes packed along side the sound equipment, the talks began.

In what could be considered her first public event, Krista will be riding her 2009 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle (pictured right - click to enlarge) when she participates in International Female Ride Day on May 1 in Milwaukee.

I’m here reporting from EUREKA SPRINGS —Four of the Hells Angels accused of ambushing, beating and stabbing members of a rival motorcycle group here on July 29, 2007, pleaded guilty to reduced felony charges Monday and received five-year suspended sentences and $4,000 fines.

The out-of-state gang members who appeared in circuit court in somber black suits Monday were Robert Reynolds, Jason Gallo, Eric Franco and Derek Roy. Gallo and Roy may have been dressed like their lawyers, but they sported shaved heads.

Christopher Sweeney is in federal prison and will appear Oct. 12. Manny Montiero has been deported to his native Portugal, but will face charges if he ever is found back in the United States, Prosecutor Tony Rogers said.

Of the four Bandidos they attacked, two are dead. Rogers said one died in a motorcycle wreck in Beaumont, Texas. The other was murdered in Odessa, Texas, and police have “no good leads,” he said.

Rogers told Circuit Judge Kent Crow that the case had been difficult from the beginning because the victims had refused to help the prosecution in any way.

Alan Epley, the circuit judge before Crow, had thrown out evidence and testimony, finding improper police handling. That left defense lawyers questioning whether the case could be brought to trial. But Rogers said in a  press release Monday that Crow had overturned Epley’s ruling, prompting the plea bargaining.
It ended with the four Hells Angels pleading guilty to a reduced felony battery charge Monday, while the prosecution dropped charges of aggravated assault with enhancement for violence in a criminal group activity.

Rogers said in a press release after court that without the cooperation of the victims, “obtaining felony convictions despite the obstacles is the best possible outcome for the citizens of Carroll County.”

Some 300 Hells Angels vacationed together in Eureka Springs in July of 2007 for a quiet weekend under heavy police observation. A spokesman said State Police “encouraged” rival Bandidos to keep away.

But witnesses told police that six Bandidos were leaving the residence of a Eureka Springs Bandido at the end of the weekend to return to Texas when they met the Hells Angels on the highway.

They turned around and pulled into the parking lot because they thought the Hells Angels wanted to talk to them, police were told.

A red pickup pulled in front of them, attempting to block the parking lot exit, but two of the Bandidos were able to speed around the pickup, witnesses said.

Those two Bandidos saw the passenger get out of the truck with a baseball bat and begin beating the four remaining Bandidos, according to police reports.

Police said at the time that an off-duty officer spotted several Hells Angels beating people on the ground of the parking lot of a vacated antique store on U. S. Highway 62.

The Hells Angels fled, and the officer found four men in Bandido jackets beaten and stabbed near their motorcycles, police said.

An alert went out and Berryville police stopped the Hells Angels on east-bound motorcycles and an accompanying red pickup on Highway 62 about three miles before they reached Berryville.

I know this is an old study but I think it still applies. Virtually all hardcore riders answered they would give up their spouse or significant other before their motorcycle, according to the recent results of a consumer study commissioned by Allstate Insurance Company. Also, riders across all classifications were twice as likely to give up their television sets before their motorcycles - a testament to the passion many Americans feel for their bikes and riding.

These and other insights were revealed in an online survey of 500 male bikers nationwide, weighted to represent the total population and commissioned by the Northbrook, Illinois-based insurer earlier this year. Allstate developed the study to stay current about changing demographics and interests of those who ride motorcycles.

How Much I Ride and Why
Allstate’s study found that seven in 10 bikers ride at least once a week, including almost 45 percent of the participants who ride several times a week.

So, bikers are loyal to their passion, but why?

Provided a long list of reasons to ride, bikers rallied around the idea of “riding is more fun” as their most common answer with 78 percent agreeing. “The feeling of freedom”, “the way it makes them feel” and “to relieve stress” also produced high results - all reaching more than 300 clicks.

In a nod to rising gas prices, 63 percent of respondents named “the fuel economy” as a top reason why they ride. Now I feel this may be true for I wonder how hot a woman would have to be for me to give up riding for her, and I know the bike would attract a replacement just as hot.
